Christina Le- Discovery High School JROTC- Legion of Valor Award for 2020
Discovery High School is proud to recognize senior Christina Le for her outstanding achievement. She was chosen out of 300,000 JROTC cadets nationwide by the U.S. Army Cadet Command as a recipient of the Legion of Valor Award. 29 students were chosen nationwide for the prestigious award. Georgia is part of the 6th Brigade which had the highest number of cadets chosen with 11 including Georgia, Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi and Alabama. To be nominated for the award students have to be heavily involved in community service and in the top 10% of their class Christina is one of five from Georgia and the only Gwinnett County Public Schools student to be chosen. Christina serves as the JROTC Battallion Commander, Captain of the Raiders team and Captain of the JLAB-Junior ROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl team which qualified for the national tournament the past two years. The JROTC instructors for Discovery High School are Lieutenant Colonel Robert Rooker (RET) and First Sargeant Francisco Diaz (RET).
