As we celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day, it’s worth looking back at our Lady Titans 2019-20 basketball season. These ladies have grown so much in the past few years to accomplish so many firsts for the program and our school. We have several seniors who have signed or will sign to play college basketball including Payton Hicks-Brenau University as well as others like Keyara Wooden and Akaya Chaney. Akaya also became the first athlete in school history to score over 1000 career points which she accomplished during a game on January 3rd. Head coach, Kandra Bailey also passed an impressive milestone when she secured her 100th career victory with a win over the Duluth Wildcats. The team would set a new record for wins in a season while finishing with a 15-10 record. 15 wins betters last year’s mark of 12 and continues the upward trend for the Lady Titans. They also beat several region rivals for the first time in school history. While the season may have come to an end on Tuesday night in the Region 6-AAAAAAA tournament there is a slight chance they could still get into the GHSA state playoffs because of their power ranking and win total. We are so proud of these young ladies and their coaches for all the great things they have accomplished on and off the court!
