Boys Varsity Basketball, Girls Varsity Basketball · Basketball Teams Start Round 2 of Region Play

The varsity basketball teams look to finish strong the second time through our region after both teams finished 4-2 in the first trip around.  They have fought through some injuries and other adversity to put themselves in a strong position for the postseason region tournament. The girls are in 3rd place currently in the region standings just one game behind Peachtree Ridge.

The Lady Titans have set a record for season wins at 13-5 so far and if they can replicate or better their first trip through they will be sitting in a good position to reach the postseason.  Seniors Akaya Chaney and Keyara Wooden have led the way while sophomore Taylor Watkins exploded in her last game for a career high 19 points vs. Peachtree Ridge.

The boys are 9-10 with several close losses and have dealt with a recent rash of injuries but this has allowed others to step up and get valuable minutes and experience as they push for the playoffs this second trip through the region.  London Riley and Ian Davis have both had explosive point totals this season with London setting a school record for points with 36 in a buzzer-beater loss to Collins Hill last Friday.  The boys sit in a tie for 2nd place just one game behind Collins Hill and tied with Peachtree Ridge.

Both teams look to start the second trip through the region on a positive note with a road trip to Mountain View tonight.
