Boys Varsity Track, Girls Varsity Track · Titans Stand Out at Region 6-AAAAAAA Meet

The girl’s had some impressive showings, most notably by 9th grader Taylor Watkins-  She was seeded last in the 800 because she has focused on other events until recently but blew the field away and nearly caught a senior from North to finish 2nd and PR by 15 seconds and she also finished 3rd in the 400M.  Raquel Newkirk finished 2nd in the 300 M hurdles, Sol Mendoza finished 4th in the 1600 and to also qualify for sectionals. Courtney Stoudamire finished 5th in the triple jump as well as other great days with PR’s from the rest of the girl’s team.  The boy’s track team was led by 1st time Region champ Blamassi Meite in the discus winning on  his last throw with a 6’ PR throw of 142’9”.  Kobe Johnson held on to his title as the fastest man in Gwinnett County by running a blistering 10.57 in the 100 M and 21.68 in the 200.  The 100 M dash time is only .06 away from the all-time GCPS record. Daniel Mambele finished 2nd in the Pole Vault, The Jefferson twins (Andre and Aaron) earned points in several events along with 10th grader Devin Martin who impressed with his 10.96 in the 100 and 5th place finish in the 200. Seniors Donovan Webb, Marcellus Bradley and Noble Joyner had strong days as well. The 4×100 M relay team finished 2nd.  Lots of school records fell for both teams and we had our best finish ever in region and have a number of athletes qualified for sectionals at McCeachern on May 4th.–aaaaaaa-track/article_5eb47a9a-6721-11e9-a6f8-5bd207366bbc.html–aaaaaaa-track-and-field-championships/collection_82674bdc-6723-11e9-b977-03390c8d4565.html
