Multiple Teams · Titans Cross Country Competes in the Aubrae Gunderson Invitational

The Discovery Titans XC teams traveled back to the GA International Horse Park to compete at the 11th annual Aubrae Gunderson Invitational, which was named after a Heritage HS XC runner who lost her life by being hit by a car while running.

Jonathan Heredia ran a personal best as well as breaking the school’s 5K record, previously held by Jesus Cacique (19:10.45 – 2015). Heredia ran 19:05.87 as the leading Titan, Matthew Quarles (19:20.23), Pablo Muniz (19:49.67), Charbel Gerges (20:01.79) and Danny Guiterrez (20:25.35) rounded out the top 5 finishers for the Titans. The highlight of the day was Patrick Kukucka, running 19:50.92 and earning a medal placing 18th overall in the JV Frosh/Sophomore race.  Kukucka broke the Frosh school record previously held by Heredia (20:19.05 – 2015).

The girl’s squad got a boost from the return of senior Raquel Ramirez as she covered the 5K distance in her fastest time of 24:15.39 as a Discovery Titan.  Finding success with Ramirez was Arabelle Ishaku who ran a personal best of 26:27.67.  Lesly Duran (26:33.33), Isis Mendoza (27:25.10), Kala Richardson (28:47.82), and Makala Burton (28:52.80) rounded out the team.
